Top Trends Shaping the Future of Gaming World

Top Trends Shaping the Future of Gaming World

Advancements in technology are rapidly transforming the future of the gaming world. From viral augmented reality (AR) games such as Pokémon Go to the popular mobile-based multiplayer game PUBG, the future of the modern gaming world seems quite exciting.
Traditionally, multiplayer games were played using powerful PCs and laptops but the trend seems to be shifting towards other smaller devices.  Many major game development companies in Texas are adapting to the shifting trends by developing games which are compatible with hand-held devices.

Virtual Reality (VR)

Virtual reality offers avid gamers exactly what they are looking for – real, rich experiences. For instance, creating a war zone where the player is able to perceive objects and interact with them within an enclosed space while wearing a High-Resolution VR headset. Some VR headsets such as the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Samsung VR gear are already quite popular with the gaming fraternity. Game development companiesin Texas are scheduled to acquire properly designed hardware to make Virtual Reality game applications compatible with smartphone devices.

Augmented Reality (AR)

Many people tend to confuse AR with AR – VR is a stimulated environment which is entirely different from your immediate surroundings, whereas AR is an enriched version of your instant reality. According to expert game developers, ultimately games would use a combination of both to create an artificial reality with greater interaction with simulated environments.

Pokémon Go, one of the most widely downloaded and played game in 2016, was a testament for the role of AR games in the future of the gaming world. For game developers, AR is one of the major trends to keep track of.  The futuristic appeal of the AR games makes them more attractive for gamers looking to play games in a reality which interacts with their surroundings as well.

Wearable Gadgets

Apple Watch sparked the trend of wearable technology in 2015. The trend initially focused on fitness and accessibility options but lately, there has been a noticeable shift towards gaming too. Gameband is deemed to be the first smartwatch designed for gamers who wish to play games without being stuck to a computer.

eSports
Arguably the most exciting and financially significant gaming trend of the contemporary era, eSports pertains to multiplayer video game competitions held for an audience. Previously, these games were played within home environments with family or friends. But in recent trends, professional gamers compete against each other in large arenas with a large prize money at stake. According to some estimates, the eSports market is worth around $700 million with predictions to grow up to $1.5 billion by 2020. The games being played include Counter-Strike, Dota 2 and League of Legends.

The trends mentioned above show significant signs to be the gamer changer in the gaming industry. Although according to major game development companies in Texas, there’s a long way to go before these trends totally transform the industry. But, to stay competitive and appeal to the changing appetite of gamers, developers need to create something new making the most of the modern technological advancements.
